I have heard that on the routes which have already been converted back to double-decker operation, that there has been a big increase in the vehicle requirement, because a double-decker cannot carry as many passengers as a bendy bus.
But the disadvantages of the bendy buses were a) they took up a lot more roadspace than normal buses, and also they needed bigger bus stops, b) they had fewer seats than a double-decker, and c) I have heard that there were problems with passengers abusing the 'pay before you board' system.
I am not from London, but are there any bus enthusiasts or regular passengers from the city, who could tell me which kind of bus you think is best for London's busiest routes?
